If you have money, need to go through your insurance,or need an eye exam:Through the Hayes. I got my safety glasses from them, and they have beautiful and unusual glasses, the staff are really helpful and know what looks good on people.
If you don't (or if you like having a collection of designer glasses that you pay for out of pocket) OPTICAL UNDERGROUND! You have to be the kind of person who really likes shopping to like Optical Underground. But if you want really unusual glasses, they can't be beat. It's probably not the place for someone just looking for a pair as a back up for contacts, but for people with a downright glasses fetish, its the spot. I have 4 soon to be 5 pairs from them.
The dangerous part is, when the frames you like get on clearance its hard to leave the store without ending up with at least a pair of frames to put lenses in later. Right now three of my favorite designers (pro design, kirk originals, and face a face) are on the clearance rack, and I bought a pair of Rx sunglasses (kirk, same designer as the glasses I'm wearing in my profile pic) , then ended up buying frames that matched my I Pod (face a face) when I went back to pick up the sunglasses that I'll put lenses in next paycheck, and I've already decided if another pair of Face a Face frames that look really good with my hair are still there, I'm getting those, too. Basically, the money you save by buying glasses at optical underground gets spent there anyway, just on more glasses. Probably more because glasses are like bikes and shoes and somehow once you have three you want 10.
